Down Town Allen Scores One For Home Team

lady-2010
(Charles Town, WV) - Charles Town based filly Down Town Allen gave the crowd something to cheer about when she grabbed the lead and powered home to a 4 1/2 victory over Veronica's Lake in the $100,000 Lady Charles Town for three-year-old fillies.

Owned and trained by John Casey, Down Town Allen enjoyed a successful two-year-old campaign winning three stakes before taking a few months off to ready for her sophomore season. After a stakes win in the It's Binn Too Long to start the year, Down Town Allen scored the richest win of her career in the Lady Charles Town.

Going to the front under regular rider Matt McGowan, Down Town Allen set a sharp pace, but was never challenged and turned for home with the same 4 1/2 length lead that eventually became the winning margin. Veronica's Lake got up to take the second spot, 1 3/4 lengths ahead of Southern Truth.

Starring Sky was fourth and Kinsolving, who defeated Down Town Allen in the 2009 Miss Shenandoah at Charles Town, finished fifth.

Kenny Lane, High Five Gal, Milc Kids, Entranced and Graemy completed the order of finish.

A possible goal for Down Town Allen later in 2010 could be the $400,000 Charles Town Oaks to be run on September 18th.
