(Charles Town, WV) – Immortal Eyes, winner of the $100,000 Charles Town Dash last June, returns to the scene of his greatest victory Saturday night to take on eight other sprinters in the $55,000 Webb Snyder Stakes, a 4½-furlong sprint for 3-year-olds and up.
The race, the seventh on the card, kicks off an all-stakes Pick 4 culminating in the third running of the Grade 3, $1 million Charles Town Classic.
Immortal Eyes, trained in Maryland by Damon Dilodovico, is coming off a 1½-length victory at the distance last month at Charles Town.
The Webb Snyder also attracted Deputy Daney, a 4-year-old gelded son of Officer, who finished second in his most recent start to Be Bullish in the Mr. Nasty Stakes at Aqueduct. Since being claimed for $25,000 by trainer Hugh McMahon in January, Deputy Daney has won a stakes race and placed in two others, including the Tom Fool Handicap (G3), in which he finished third.
Ju Jitsu Jax, a winner of four of eight starts at Charles Town, returns after a four-month layoff to run in the race. Since losing by a half-length to Immortal Eyes in the Charles Town Dash, he has twice beaten his rival, last time in the HBPA Jefferson County Handicap at the track.
Ryan’s Gold, Awholenewballgame, Spit Spat Speight, Wonder Lite, Halton and Love to the Max complete the field.
