How to Bet - Type of Wagers
There's lots of ways to win at Charles Town! As you prepare to make your first wager, a few definitions and terms need to be explained before you head to the betting windows! (Remember, all bets are the same at each track.)
Win: Your horse has to cross the finish line first. A tough challenge, but your horse can do it.
Place: Your horse has to cross the finish line first or second. Finish in the top two and you're a winner.
Show: Your horse must cross the finish line first, second, or third. This one is easy
Quinella: The first two horses to cross the line in either order. Like an exacta, but easier
Exacta: The first two horses to cross the line in exact order. A little harder. but nothing comes easy
Trifecta: The first three horses to cross the line in exact order. Real hard, but can pay very well
Superfecta: The first four horses across the line in exact order. Super hard, but lots of $$$
Daily Double: You pick the winners of two consecutive races. Pick 'em twice and you win
Twin Trifecta: The first three horses to cross the line in exact order in two designated races. Talk about difficult! The best part about it is if no one wins, the money (pool) gets "carried over" to the next day
Tri Super: Now this is tough! First you have to hit the trifecta, then cash in your ticket and attempt to hit the superfecta in the next race. There's a carryover for this wager as well.
