Argent Affair Wires Fancy Buckles Field


(Charles Town, WV) - David A. Ross' Argent Affair broke on top and never looked back, going wire to wire in the $50,000 Fancy Buckles Stakes for WV-accredited fillies and mares.

Under jockey Erick Ramirez, the Michael Pino trainee was coming off a third place finish on the turf at Colonial Downs, but was able to set the pace and hold on for a 2 1/4 length victory over .60 to 1 favorite Natures Annuity. The final time for the 4 1/2 furlong race was 52.39.

Sent off at odds of 2.60 to 1, Argent Affair registered her fifth win in nine career starts and pushed her career earnings over $150,000. Natures Annuity held on for second by a head over 34.70 to 1 longshot Swelzel.

Come Here Oonga, Shesagrumptoo, Touch of Class, Missed Fly Ball and Justtencentsadance rounded out the order of finish.
